    Potomac River

    Shenandoah River
    The Shenandoah River is a tributary of the Potomac River and flows nearly 150 mi (241 km) in both West Virginia and Virginia. The river is formed near Front Royal by the convergence of the South and North Forks, and joins the Potomac in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The river is a popular area for those looking for watersport activities.

    Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historic Park

    Stretching 184.5 mi (297 km), the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historic Park once acted as a lifeline for communities and businesses along the Potomac River. Today the canal acts as a recreational destination, offering mule-draw boat trips and trails to hike, bike and jog on. The main entrance, visitor center and coach parking is located in Great Falls, Maryland, just outside Reston.
